During Prohibition, the owner of a speakeasy that caters to notables from different gangs is embarrassed by sudden visits from a policeman. He is told that the body of a woman has been found with a link to some of the speakeasy’s patrons. He manages the policeman’s visit with a legitimate desire to investigate the murder. Nevertheless, the speakeasy’s clientele are uneasy. In the meantime, the police officer and the speakeasy owner find an attraction between them that they decide to permit. When the speakeasy’s owner discovers his two brothers may be connected with this and other crimes, he confides in the officer to find out what’s going on. The policeman must tiptoe carefully so as not to expose himself as a gay man, but both the speakeasy owner and he struggle to find truth for themselves, and yet they succeed.
